For my first attempt at using H5P, I wanted to try to replicate an exercise I have used for years in F2F and blended/online teaching that colleagues across the disciplines have borrowed and adapted. It’s a pretty straightforward thesis development exercise that walks students through the kinds of questions they should be asking in brainstorming their thesis (and encourages a lot of free-writing). It’s not perfect by any means. I wanted to use the Documentation Tool for this because I like the idea of the walkthrough producing a tangible, concrete thing that students could (potentially even be required to) bring to a one-on-one consultation. But the tool itself is perhaps too restrictive for what I’m hoping to achieve. I’m not sure the goal-setting component maps especially successfully onto the thesis criteria idea. It would also be useful to build in a timed component for the free writing to give students a clearer sense of expectation.
All-in-all, it’s a decent first draft.
